Opening Accounts

If you are already a Westminster Savings member you can open some types of accounts in Online Banking. It's free, it takes seconds to do, and you can transfer money directly into the new account from your existing accounts.

How to open an account in Online Banking

  1. Log in to Online Banking.
  2. On the Account Summary page click Open an Account in the left-side menu.
  3. Select the type of account you wish to open: chequing, savings or term deposit.
  4. Select the product you with to open by clicking Open account. You can read more about the product by clicking on the product name.
  5. Enter the amount you wish to deposit into the account and the account you with to transfer from. Note that a minimum initial deposit of $100.00 is required to open a term deposit in Online Banking.
  6. Click Continue to confirm your information, and then Confirm to open the account.

Your account is now open. You can view your account on the Account Summary page.

Opening joint accounts

When you open an account in Online Banking it is open in your name only.

To add another person to the account phone our Member Service Centre at 604-517-0100 or your nearest branch.

Note that the person who is to be added as a joint tenant on the account should accompany you to your branch or be available to speak to a Member Service Centre agent on the phone.

Terms and conditions for opening accounts in Online Banking

  • All accounts opened in Online Banking are subject to the standard account terms and conditions.
  • If you are junior or senior member contact our Member Service Centre at 604-517-0100 after you've opened your account online to receive special account benefits.
  • Term deposits must be opened an initial minimum deposit of $100.00.
