Westminster Savings Is Proud to Support Local Athletes Ahead of Summer Games

Surrey, B.C. – July 24, 2018 Westminster Savings Credit Union (Westminster Savings) is proud to be a community partner of Special Olympics BC and is excited to cheer on six local athletes ahead of the 2018 Special Olympics Canada Summer Games.

The games will take place in Antigonish, Nova Scotia from July 31 to August 4, where over 1,000 Special Olympics athletes from all across Canada will be competing in nine sports: athletics, bocce, basketball, golf, rhythmic gymnastics, powerlifting, soccer, softball and swimming.

We are proud to announce that we have drafted the six local athletes and will help fund their travel, accommodation, meals and competition costs. We look forward to cheering on these athletes and all of the other Team BC athletes as they compete:

  • Natasha Brayshaw – Ridge Meadows, basketball: winner of a gold and bronze medal at the 2017 Provincial Games.

Westminster Savings has supported Special Olympics BC since 2014, making contributions to benefit local community programs. In 2017, Westminster Savings entered into a three-year provincial partnership totalling $225,000 with Special Olympics BC to celebrate the power and joy of sport.
