Canada’s credit unions basking in glow of service excellence award on International Credit Union Day

Surrey, B.C. – Today, October 18, is International Credit Union Day, and Canada’s credit unions are still basking in the glow.

Last week, Ipsos named Canada’s credit unions the winners of its 2018 Customer Service Excellence Award – for the 14th year in a row.  It’s a laser focus on service and the overall customer experience sets credit unions apart from banks, says Maury Kask, chief customer experience officer for Westminster Savings Credit Union.

“People come to credit unions like Westminster Savings and stay with us because we exist solely to service their financial needs and because of the consistently high quality of service we provide,” says Kask. “International Credit Union Day is a time to celebrate what credit unions offer to the communities they serve.

Today is the 70th annual International Credit Union Day. On the third Thursday of every October since 1948, credit unions have celebrated a simple but radical idea— that by working together, people can improve their financial well-being. People helping people is the foundational philosophy of the credit union movement, going back to the very beginning.

Credit unions won a total of nine Ipsos awards last week, including the Branch Service Excellence and and Values My Business awards. See the full list here.

Westminster Savings Credit Union has 67,000 customers, 15 branches and $4 billion in assets under management.
