Westminster Savings’ move to new Corporate Centre focusses on providing greater value to members

Surrey, B.C., July 19, 2016 — Westminster Savings Credit Union (Westminster Savings) is thrilled to announce that it has moved into its Corporate Centre in the Central City Office Tower at Suite 1900 – 13450 102 Avenue in the heart of Surrey. The new Corporate Centre houses more than 130 employees who previously worked at various administration offices in New Westminster and Pitt Meadows.

“Moving to this new space has given us an opportunity to bring our administrative teams together in one centralized location,” says Gavin Toy, President and CEO of Westminster Savings. “It has also allowed us to design a work area that supports the concepts of collaboration, learning and engagement – and that’s really important to us as we believe it will create a more effective environment for innovation that will provide greater service to our members.”

To that end, work areas have been designed with a consistent look and feel that encourages everyone to come together in both formal and informal gatherings. The overall space layout is open and accessible, with access to panoramic views and natural light for all employees.

“We strongly believe that offering our employees a space for interaction, creativity and business effectiveness positions our organization for enhanced success and long-term growth, which will ultimately benefit our members,” says Mr. Toy.

Westminster Savings is on track to open three new branches by 2017, two of them in Surrey. With existing branches in Newton, Cloverdale and South Surrey, it will mean five of the credit union’s 13 branches will be located in Surrey – British Columbia’s fastest growing city.

Situated along major transit and driving routes, Central City’s location offers easier commutes for the majority of employees, and has the potential to positively impact the recruitment of talent from Vancouver and across the Lower Mainland.

Since it first opened its doors in 1944, Westminster Savings has expanded and grown its reach across Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley, including through a significant merger with Maple Ridge Community Credit Union. As such, Surrey provides a convenient and accessible location for a Corporate Centre from which the credit union can serve its members.

Surrey’s Central City is a mixed-used development with an office tower, a shopping mall and a Simon Fraser University campus. It has won the Building Owners and Managers Association of British Columbia’s Outstanding Building of the Year Award, which recognizes the development's industry-leading management, operations, energy efficiency, design, tenant relations and community impact. The 560,000 square foot office tower offers panoramic views, easy Skytrain access, and is located in the downtown core of the fastest growing city in British Columbia.
