Westminster Savings Announces Funding

New Westminster, BC – February 24, 2014 – Westminster Savings is pleased to announce it is partnering with its trade area municipalities to continue its program of funding free monthly swims.

“As a community based credit union, we think it is important that our ongoing investments in local programs be directed to making a significant and positive impact by building communities and giving people opportunities to get active, have fun and connect with one another,” says Gavin Toy, President and CEO, Westminster Savings. “Swimming is a wonderful way to stay active and fit, and we hope people will take advantage of this program and take the plunge.”

Westminster Savings started funding public swims in Burnaby in 2010, and has since expanded the program to the other communities it serves – Maple Ridge, Langley, Surrey, New Westminster and the Tri-Cities.

Open to everyone, the free swims are held at various times throughout the month. A list of all free swims can be found here. The program is part of Westminster Savings’ Project Better Balance initiative, which is intended to provide people with opportunities to get active and engage with the arts. More information about Project Better Balance, including an event calendar of free and low-cost activities, can be found at www.projectbetterbalance.com.
