Westminster Savings Invests $10,000 in BC's Youth

Vancouver, BC, June 1, 2010 - Junior Achievement of British Columbia (JABC) is privileged to announce that Westminster Savings (WS) has donated $10,000 to JABC business education programs. This generous contribution will specifically go towards Economics for Success – a program that encourages grade 9 and 10 students to reflect on the advantages of remaining in school to acquire the knowledge, attitudes and skills needed for long-term career success.

Since 1999, Westminster Savings employees have been volunteering their time to deliver Junior Achievement business education programs and inspire the next generation of employees and business leaders. WS’s commitment to supporting economic and social development is exemplified by their new financial partnership and continued volunteer support for Junior Achievement. “As a longtime supporter of Junior Achievement, we’re pleased to be able to support the Economics for Success program” says Nicole Eich, Foundation and Community Investment Manager, “our aim is to help equip youth with long-term financial and life skills”.

Junior Achievement would like to thank Westminster Savings for their considerable support. JABC is a non-profit organization committed to inspiring and motivating BC’s children and youth to take an active role in their future through business education. To accomplish this goal, Junior Achievement works in partnership with dedicated donors, business volunteers, educators and the greater community to deliver programs to 30,000 students annually in grades 5 - 12. Westminster Savings’ contribution this year will help guarantee that BC communities continue to have access to Junior Achievement programs.
