Westminster Savings Credit Union Announces New Board Chair, Vice Chair and Board Member
New Westminster, BC, June 17, 2010 - Westminster Savings Credit Union (WSCU) today announced the appointment of Ross Montgomery as Chair of the WSCU Board, Bill Brown as Vice Chair and the election of Rob Shirra as a new Board member.
Ross Montgomery, who has been a member of WSCU's Board since 2002, has over 30 years of experience in the high technology, financial services, and public service industries. A Certified General Accountant, Ross previously held the positions of CEO at CUE Datawest Ltd. and President of the Credit Union Deposit Insurance Corporation of British Columbia. He also serves on the Board of Central 1 Credit Union and Northwest Ethical Mutual Funds. In 2006 Ross received his certified director designation (ICD.D) granted by the Institute of Corporate Directors, the professional body representing the Director community in Canada.
Bill Brown, WSCU Vice Chair, has been a member of WSCU's Board since 2006. Bill has extensive senior management experience in the beverage industry having served as President & CEO of American Brands (now Fortune Brands). He brings both national and international business experience to the Westminster Savings Board, with particular expertise in product marketing and program development. He is a former member of the Port Moody Police Board and currently serves as a director of the B.C. Transit Police Board of Directors.
Newly elected to the Board is Rob Shirra, President of RGS Consulting International Inc. A Certified Management Consultant (CMC) with over 30 years experience in strategic planning, program/project management, information and technology management, contract management and business development, Rob is well known for strengths in communication, leadership, organizational skills, innovation and analysis. He has a long-standing track record of success consulting in the transportation, telecommunications, government, retail and distribution industries. He was recently awarded the prestigious designation of Fellow of the Institute of Certified Management Consultants of British Columbia (ICMCBC) in recognition of his contributions to the industry.

In the recent WSCU Board of Directors election, credit union members re-elected Kathleen Kennedy-Strath, Chief Executive Officer of Kinsman Place Lodge, Emmet McGrath, Chief Financial Officer of Lincoln Mining Corporation, and Patty Sahota, an independent consultant focusing on public policy issues, for three-year terms. They are joined by WSCU's continuing Board members Michael Edwards, Senior Partner with Edwards and Company, Doug King, Principal of King & Company, CGA Accounting Firm, and Darlene Hyde, Principal of the Osborne Group.
